2005 Yann Chave Hermitage
This is one for the cellar. While this wine shows youthful, exuberant fruit right now, it is much too tight to enjoy and should be given a few years before you even think about pulling
the cork! This Hermitage will be even better if you can wait until 2020, although this might be difficult considering how tempting it will be to drink it in its infancy.

2005 Chateau La Nerthe Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc
One of the oldest estates in CDP, first documented in 1560, but possibly dating back to the 12th century. This producer is a gem. The wines are consistent, well-made and inexpensive
for CDP. The La Nerthe Blanc is fresh, vibrant and approachable in its youth, compared to some of the more rustic whites from the appellation. The blend is grenache blanc, roussanne, bourboulenc and
clairette and does not undergo malolactic fermentation to retain its great freshness. It is matured mostly in tank and partially in barrel. Delicious!

1997 Pio Cesare Ornato Barolo
In 1881, Cesare Pio began producing wine from the Alba region in Piemonte. Today, the tradition continues with his great-grandson Pio Boffa. Ornato is a single vineyard Barolo only produced in top
vintages. The fruit is sourced from the family owned Ornato vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, from which the first vintage was 1985. This wine is still a baby and needs at least several hours in a
decanter if you plan to drink it now. It would benefit from another 5 years of bottle age and will continue to evolve through 2022 if you have the patience to wait. Recently, we were lucky enough to
acquire a 6 pack (Oct '07), but this wine will be next to impossible to find, although well worth it!

2001 Hacienda Monasterio Reserva Ribera del Duero
What an unbelievable wine! Monasterio Reserva is a blend of 75% Tempranillo and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon hand picked from selected parcels. The Reserva is only produced when quality is exceptional,
which was the case with the excellent 2001 vintage. Since 1990, winemaking has been in the very talented hands of Dane Peter Sisseck, a revolutionary oenologist responsible for several other iconic
Spainish wines. This bodega practices what they term "ecological farming" in an effort to be more conscious of treatments and practices being used in the vineyards. Be warned! This wine is a monster
right now and needs at least another 3-4 years and would benefit from at least 10 years of bottle aging to reveal its full potential. As tempting as it may be, try to put this one away in your
cellar, you will thank us later. In the meantime, check out their Crianza, which has a dollop of merlot added to the blend and is made for earlier consumption.
