The Basics of Tasting
In a one hour session, learn how to taste wine like a pro. We will introduce your group to the main characteristics of five different grape varieties and proceed through a structured tasting of
five wines. We will provide handouts for you to take away; including tasting sheets to start your own cellar book. Learn how to describe each wine and the appropriate wine "lingo" to use such as:
muted, intense, balanced, tannic and acidic. This will prepare you for the next seminar in the series: Around the World in Six Wines.
Italian Vacation - Intermediate
If you have had the opportunity to visit bella Italia, I am sure you hated leaving and can't wait for the next occasion to return. Hopefully, this hour and a half tasting will take you right back
to this fabulous country. We will taste through eight wines from the main regions of Italy from north to south from the usual suspects, for example: Barolo/Barbaresco (Piedmont), Amarone (Veneto) and
Brunello di Montalcino (Tuscany). Accompanied by a brief seminar on each region, the styles of wine being produced and the top names to search for when purchasing wine. *This seminar is not
recommended for novice wine drinkers, please refer to one of the first four seminars before you attempt this class. The Basics of Tasting, Around the World in Six Wines, The Price is Right or New or
Old.
Italian Vacation - Advanced
Either you have been to bella Italia many times, and/or you are Italian wine junkies just like us. This seminar will focus on 8 wines from a region, producer or unique style that would normally be
overlooked by those searching for the usual suspects. Over an hour and a half, we will introduce you to-or improve your understanding of- lesser known varieties, styles and producers of undeniably
Italian wines. *We would recommend taking the Intermediate course prior to the Advanced or to have a high level of experience tasting wine.
